About the X-ray diffractometer goniometer
2024-01-01 10:00In X-ray analysis, an instrument used to measure the Angle between an incident X-ray beam and a diffracted X-ray beam. The diffractometer automatically maps the variation of the diffraction intensity with the 2θ Angle.
(1) X-ray optical path
The X-ray reaches the sample table through the focus, the shuttle stop (height limiting), and the divergent slit stop (width limiting), and the scattering lines generated by the sample enter the detector through the anti-scattering stop, the shuttle stop and the receiving slit stop.
(2), goniometer circle (diffractometercircle)
Goniometer circle: The focus of the X-ray tube and the receiving stop are located in the same circle, which is called the goniometer circle (diffractometer circle).
Working principle: In the diffraction measurement, the sample rotates around the central axis of the goniometer, constantly changing the Angle between the incoming ray and the specimen surface, the counter rotates along the goniometer circle, receiving the diffraction intensity corresponding to each diffraction Angle.
When the continuous scanning technique is used, the scanning speed has a great influence on the measurement accuracy. Therefore, when possible, try to choose a slow scanning speed. Otherwise, the scanning speed is too fast, which will aggravate the hysteresis effect, reduce the diffraction peak height, and widen the line shape.
